Hey there, friend. Life’s not always a smooth ride, is it? Here in Killeen, Texas, we know what it’s like to face some rough patches—bills piling up, family stress, or that heavy feeling that just won’t quit. I’ve been pastoring and coaching folks through these moments for over 17 years, and let me tell you: you’ve got what it takes to keep going. Not because you’re superhuman, but because God’s got your back, and He’s given you a strength that runs deeper than you might realize. Let’s talk about how to tap into that strength, push through the hard stuff, and come out stronger, with a little help from my new book to guide you along the way.
When Life Feels Like a Wall
We all hit walls—those moments when everything feels like too much. Maybe you’re juggling a job and kids, or you’re a soldier’s spouse holding it together while they’re deployed. Whatever it is, those walls can make you feel stuck, like you’re out of gas. But here’s the truth: those walls aren’t the end of your story. They’re where God shows up. Psalm 55:22 says, “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” That’s not just a nice verse—it’s a promise that you’re never alone, no matter how tall that wall looks.
I’ve seen it time and again in my coaching. Folks come to me feeling beat down, but with a little faith and some practical steps, they find the grit to keep moving. You can too. Your strength isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about trusting God’s got you and taking one step at a time.
Step 1: Reset Your Mind
Your mind can be your biggest cheerleader or your toughest critic. When life gets heavy, it’s easy to get caught in a loop of “I can’t do this” or “Why me?” But Philippians 4:8 tells us to focus on “whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable.” That’s not just fluffy advice—it’s a game-changer. Swap out those negative thoughts for God’s truth. Instead of “I’m failing,” try, “God’s my strength, and I’m still standing” (Isaiah 40:31).
I had a client, a dad here in Killeen, who felt like he was drowning in stress. We started small—he wrote down one Bible verse every morning and said it out loud. Over time, his whole outlook shifted. He wasn’t just surviving; he was thriving. You can do that too. Grab a notebook, jot down a verse that hits home, and let it sink in. It’s like hitting reset on your mind.

Step 2: Lean on Your People
Nobody gets through life solo. God made us for connection—think of it like a Texas barbecue, better with folks around the table. Ecclesiastes 4:9 says, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor.” Your people—friends, family, church—are your lifeline when the going gets tough. They’re the ones who pray with you, listen when you vent, or just sit with you when words aren’t enough.
I coached a young woman who felt alone in her struggles with anxiety. She joined a small group at our church, and those connections became her anchor. She wasn’t just getting by—she was growing. Who’s your crew? If you don’t have one, come check out New Life Christian Fellowship Center. We’re a family here, and we’ve got room for you.

Step 3: Take One Step Forward
Pushing through doesn’t mean you’ve got to fix everything today. It’s about doing one thing, even something small, that moves you forward. James 1:22 says, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” Faith plus action—that’s the recipe. Feeling stuck financially? Make a simple budget. Battling low confidence? Sign up for that class you’ve been eyeing.
I worked with a veteran who felt lost after leaving the Army. He didn’t know where to start, so we set one goal: research a trade school. That one step led to a new career he loves. What’s your next step? Pray about it, then do it. God’s not asking for perfection—He just wants you to move.
Step 4: Hold Tight to God’s Promises
Here’s the heart of it: youryour strength comes from knowing God’s in control. Life’s walls can make you wonder if He’s listening, but Romans 15:13 says, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him.” Trusting God doesn’t mean the wall disappears—it means He’s giving you the tools to climb it.
I’ve coached couples through rocky marriages, parents through sleepless nights, and folks through grief. What pulls them through? Believing God’s promises are true. He’s not just watching your struggle—He’s working in it, shaping you for something greater. Lean into that truth, and you’ll find the courage to keep going.
The Spiritual Side of Strength
Here’s something I’ve learned: some of life’s toughest walls aren’t just physical or emotional—they’re spiritual. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us our real fight is “against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Those feelings of defeat or confusion? Sometimes they’re more than just feelings—they’re spiritual battles trying to knock you off course.
That’s why I wrote “BEWARE OF THE BOMBARAGE: Behaviors of the Spiritual Realm.” This book is my heart on paper, packed with 17 years of lessons from pastoring and coaching. It’s for anyone who wants to:
